CILA enhances structure to elevate the Institute and support member progress
At the Chartered Institute of Loss Adjusters (CILA) annual lunch, president Adam Humphrey outlined key reforms to the institute this year, including new membership plans and changes in governance structure. The lunch was held at the Intercontinental Hotel on Park Lane with more than 400 loss adjusting and claims professionals.
As loss adjusting becomes more complex, CILA has become more significant for a broader range of technical claims professionals. The institute revealed an important update to its membership structure, which now includes a corporate membership option. The change seeks to engage traditional loss adjuster businesses and a wider range of related professionals, such as brokers, insurers’ claims departments, and forensic accountants. Additionally, an incorporated membership will be available to professionals transitioning from other fields to loss adjusting, ensuring the integrity of the current qualification framework remains.
Alongside these changes, Adam introduced a modernised governance structure aimed at prioritising the needs of current and potential members and the professionals’ claims community.
Adam Humphrey, President at CILA, commented: “CILA’s reforms are an opportunity to elevate the sector and respond to an increasingly complex technical claims profession. Our changes in membership and governance reflect this evolution. We also recognise the importance of the London Market and the global demand for skilled claims professionals. As international travel becomes more challenging, I’ve focused on developing an international growth strategy. Last year, we collaborated with the Institute of Loss Adjusters for Southern Africa. Next month, we’re hosting the CILA Claims Professionals Conference in Dubai, followed by an event in Kenya.”
