How can I sit my exams?

To sit any CILA examinations you will need to take the following steps:

1. Sign up for CILA membership.
You can only attain a CILA qualification if you are a member of the CILA. If you are not already a member, please apply for CILA membership here.

Once your application is approved you will be given your CILA Membership Number.

2. Create a Pearson VUE account.
The next step is to create your own online account with the exam facilitator Pearson VUE  You will need your CILA membership number in order to create your Pearson VUE account.

3. Purchase an exam voucher
You do this through the Pearson Vue online shop called Mindhub.

Each exam voucher has an expiry date and the associated exam must be booked and taken before this expiry date. Failure to do so will require repurchase of the voucher at full cost.

4. Book Your Exam

How do I book my Exams?

All modules and examinations can be sat at one of the following locations:

At a Pearson Vue test centre
Pearson Vue test centres are located throughout the world and you can find your nearest test centre by visiting the Pearson Vue website. If a test centre is not available in your country, please contact the Institute at for further assistance.

You may find it useful to watch a short video by Pearson Vue on “What to expect in a Pearson Vue test centre” before sitting an examination in a Pearson Vue test centre.

At home or in your office
Pearson Vue also offer the option to sit a CILA examination at home or in your office using an online invigilation service called OnVUE. An online invigilator will observe and monitor your exam through specialist software and the webcam and microphone on your computer.

We recommend that you familiarise yourself with the OnVUE system requirements, policies and procedures before selecting this method of examination. Detailed information can be found on the Pearson Vue website here.

Booking your exam
When you feel ready to take your exam (whether at a test centre, at home or your office), you can schedule the date, time and location via the Pearson VUE website.

You may wish to try out the exam software in advance of your exam sitting so that you are familiar with the functionality. You can do so here: http://www.pearsonvue.com/athena

Please note that you are required to present photographic identification on the day of your exam, for example, your passport or driving licence. It is essential that the name on this identification matches the name your CILA membership record, any discrepancies will invalidate your exam booking and your voucher will be lost. If you need help updating your details on MyCILA please contact info@cila.co.uk.

When do I receive my results?

Members taking the Certificate exams will receive their results immediately upon completion of the exam. All other exams may take up to 6 weeks for the results to be released. Students will receive an email notifying them that the exam results are posted on their MyCILA account which they then can login to view. For more details on what happens after you pass or fail an exam please refer to your qualification handbooks.
