CILA Executive Director On 2025 Insurance Post Power List

Ranked Number 45 on the Insurance Post Power List 2025, Bissell earned his place by committing to shaking up the Chartered professional body’s syllabuses to ensure loss adjusters master the skills required to thrive in the decades ahead. Last year, Bissell spearheaded several initiatives to ensure Cila remains a pivotal player in the evolving insurance claims landscape. Inclusivity was a central theme to Cila’s first Manifesto, which he launched, and Bissell oversaw the creation of a qualifications development group to focus on improving accessibility of exams. He has also backed an ‘emerging talent’ stream at Cila, focused on mental resilience, with former Olympic champion Gail Emms headlining the Cila Emerging Talent Conference.  With a forward-looking approach, Bissell is clearly focused on implementing a long-term strategy to make the organisation future-ready, addressing emerging industry challenges and opportunities. Bissell is also committed to widening Cila’s reach and clout – work assisted by his long career in the insurance industry and past tenure as chief operations officer at the CII. His leadership and board-level roles at organisations such as Acord, Pro-Global Insurance Solutions, Capita Insurance Services, Miller Insurance Services, and Aviva, gives insurers the confidence that he grasps the scale of the talent war the sector is battling.
