ABI and CILA guidance on property claims handling which is compliant with asbestos legislation

The paper considers stages of a claim and different approaches to settlement, including cash settlements based upon customer estimates or by use of a scoping tool. Claim procedures such as pre-visit risk assessment, inspection of premises, validation of loss, alternative accommodation and appointment of contractors are discussed. Reference is also made to duties under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, licensed work and notification to the HSE.
