A successful CILA Conference 2026

The CILA Conference returned to the ICC in Birmingham this year under the theme New Horizons, bringing together claims professionals for a day of insight into some of the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of the profession.

As always, there was a strong mix of technical sessions, including on underinsurance, DSU, sinkholes and cyber business interruption, as well as a panel session on mitigation, reinstatement and settlement.

Unsurprisingly, AI featured in discussions across a number of different sessions, from considering how customers are using AI, to its evolving role in claims handling and loss adjusting. We also heard from IFED about the ways in which technology can be used to manipulate information, and the importance of claims professionals working collaboratively to identify and tackle fraud across the industry.

We were pleased to welcome Jo Causon, Chief Executive of the Institute of Customer Service, who explored how customer expectations are changing and what this means for those working across the claims journey. The Stories After the Storm session, delivered with the National Emergencies Trust, provided another important perspective, looking beyond the claim itself and considering how customers can be supported in the aftermath of a major event.

Over 95% of attendees said they would recommend attending the CILA Claims Professionals’ Conference to a colleague.

With a strong turnout from both delegates and exhibitors across a broad range of organisations, the conference provided plenty of opportunities to share experiences and make new connections.
