In many claims, property damage and business interruption losses are not mutually exclusive. Areas of the PD/BI policy are interlinked – for example, expediting costs of reinstatement as ICOW, or the impact of stock losses on the BI claim. As adjusters, whether primarily property or BI focused, there is a duty for us to have knowledge across the policy to fairly adjust and present a policyholder’s claim. CILA’s BI Special Interest Group is pleased to join with the Property SIG for 2024’s BI Technical Day focused on some of these areas. Representatives from all aspects of the market – adjusters, lawyers, brokers and insurers – will discuss some of the key issues arising from these areas. Topics include understanding ICOW and AICOW only policies, the expectations of “Building Back Better”, and the thorny area of stock quantification.
